Regal GNLP (now Arada London) has been working in close collaboration with the London Borough of Barnet to develop proposals for a new leisure centre at the Great North Leisure Park.
In November 2023, the Council published an Outline Business Case identifying a preferred option to progress. This option formed the basis of Regal (now Arada London)’s planning proposals and underpinned the planning application submitted in early 2024.
Following further design development and internal review, the Council has, at a Cabinet meeting held on the 22 July 2025, subsequently taken the decision to move away from the previously selected option. As a result, Regal (now Arada London) will revise the current design proposals for the leisure centre, which will continue to provide a modern and enhanced facility.
Regal (now Arada London), with the wider consultant team, will develop the updated proposals over the coming weeks. These will be submitted as revisions against the current planning application with further statutory consultation undertaken by the Council.
Two webinars will be held during the week commencing 1 September to provide updates on the revised proposals. Further details, including how to register and information on the design proposals will be shared shortly.
The webinars will then be available on this website for anyone who is unable to attend.
In the meantime, the existing leisure centre will remain open and operational until a new facility has received approval, been constructed, and is ready for use.
