Great North Leisure Park Webinar Invite

Regal submitted a planning application earlier this year, following close collaboration with the London Borough of Barnet, proposing the phased redevelopment of the Great North Leisure Park (GNLP) to deliver a new health and wellbeing destination as part of a residential led neighbourhood.

The proposals include the provision of a new state of the art leisure centre, much-needed homes, flexible commercial space, a sports changing pavilion, as well as parking, and an attractively designed landscaping scheme.

Since then, we have been working with various stakeholders, including the council, which have informed a number of updates to the the proposed scheme.

To share these updates in greater detail Regal would like to invite you to to join one of two webinar sessions as per the details below:

Wednesday, 3rd September 2025 at 18:30 (1 hour)

Thursday, 4th September 2025 at 18:30 (1 hour)

Both webinars will follow the same process and share the same information. Regal, with the consultant team, will present the proposed plans, along with images, and explain the updates. Once the presentation is finished the team will look to address questions received.

We kindly ask you to submit questions in advance using the free post address below or email using the following email address: GNLP@regal.co.uk

There will also be an opportunity to submit questions at each webinar via the messaging function which will be activated on the evening.

Planning Process and Community Engagement to Date

The application to redevelop the site (see outlined in red on map) was submitted and validated in January 2025 (25/0213/FUL) following an extensive community engagement programme which commenced in July 2023.

The programme included nine in-person events, online consultations, and meetings with local stakeholders. Over 22,000 local addresses were contacted for each phase, newsletters were distributed in high-footfall areas, and the consultation website received 2,185 unique visitors.

Across the process, 423 people attended events, and 235 feedback forms were submitted, helping shape the proposals from the initial vision to detailed plans with CGIs and character areas.

During this period there was also the Council’s Cabinet decision at its July meeting to move away from the previously proposed approach for the new leisure centre in favour of a revised design, Regal is now preparing updated proposals in line with this decision which will deliver a modern facility that will significantly improve on the existing one.

Scheme Updates

Over the past few months, we have been working closely with the London Borough of Barnet to update the proposals for the Great North Leisure Park.

This has resulted in two key changes:

  1. A reduction in the number of proposed new homes from 1,502 to 1,485.
  2. Updates to the final design of the proposed leisure centre, following the Council Cabinet’s decision.

The graphic provides an overview of how the proposed leisure centre facility mix compares with the existing facility. The increased facility mix for the proposed scheme has been developed based on previous stakeholder engagement, operator feedback and Council feedback.

If you have any questions ahead of the webinars, please email us so we can address them during the sessions.
